Hi Larry!
I just wanted to share my Larry Tale with you. I was first introduce to Larry the Lizard down in Texas by a good friend of mine Lee Humphreys. When I went fishing with him on Lake Fork and was so impressed with them, I knew I had to take this home and fish him up North in my home waters of Minnesota. On opening weekend we went to my favorite Small Mouth Bass Lake with my friend Paul who I have been fishing with since I was nine years old. When he asked me what I was going to throw this morning? I was proud to say " I'm going to throw a 6" Green Pumpkin Larry the Lizard."
What I didn't tell him was that I had Larry tied on my line since I came home from Texas, because of how well we did with him down there.
Paul started to laughing, " a lizard, no body around here throws lizards!"
" This is not just a lizard, it's Larry! "
Then we started up the boat and headed for our favorite spot.
On my first cast, half way back to the boat, I got a strike. " Oh Paul fish on! " I got the fish in the boat, nice Large Mouth.
We were both surprised, in all the years we have fished this lake, we had only caught a hand full of Large Mouth on this lake. It was the first of many. Four more casts and fish on! It's another Large Mouth, better than the first. All I was thinking was 5 casts, 2 fish, this is going to be a good day. On my next cast it was about to become a great day! I was working Larry back to the boat, real slow, when BAM! BIG HIT I set the hook and knew right away that this was a great fish, this must be one of those wall monster Smallies I came for, " get the net! "
But when she came up, it was a beautiful Large Mouth. That's when Paul said that was the biggest Large Mouth he had ever seen.
"In that moment he became a believer in Larry!"
That day we caught a total 23 Small Mouth Bass, 43 Northern Pike, and 72 Large Mouth Bass. You only dream of days like that. Thank you for listening to my story. I have been spreading the word of Larry ever since.
